Well, some of you know that Nate was injured over a year ago. We kept expecting him to be ‘better’ and back at work, but at this point Wegmans has let him go and nothing that they’ve tried has actually helped  him. So we need to make official a few changes that have already occurred. His pain level has left him less and less able to be involved in the business. So as of this year, it will just be me, Apryl, for Dragon Moon Creations. I will still use his art for journals, that hasn’t changed. And he has shown me his techniques, and I have been making them for a while, so again no change. The only change will be that he won’t have new things available. I will still be offering his existing works for sale. He just can’t focus well enough to paint these days. I do plan to go through his archives, so ‘new’ things will be posted, as I find the ones he hadn’t liked or for whatever reason hadn’t uploaded onto the web.

Soon this website will start redirecting directly to the artfire website. Since I will be on my own, I’m simplifying down to just one place to maintain for now. Hopefully something soon will help him and we can go back to a full partnership, but until then, I will gladly help with anything anyone needs.

Getting things up online has been farther behind than expected. Out of town guests, germs, and family birthdays have all popped up. But I have gotten a lot listed on our Artfire page, and as soon as that part is all caught up, will get them over here too. So far the newest up there are necklaces, but prints to come next, then journals to follow. And now that they have shopping by location as an option, I’ll be getting originals up as well.

And jewelry and prints are all free shipping through the holidays!! Come check out what’s available and let us know what you think, we love hearing from you.

(oh, and soon new deals will be posted on our Facebook Fan page, so if you haven’t ‘liked’ us yet, be sure you do!)

Fun new goodies

Well, to start, we’re all out of Faerie Orbs! But not to worry, Nate has more working already!

And there is a whole new stock of fun for locals in Syracuse, at Seven Rays too.

And a few new bits of fun over at Cafe Press too!

Even more to come soon. Our daughter’s 3rd birthday is this week, and planning and getting ready has been crazy. But as soon as her Pumpkin Faerie Tea Party has come to its magical ending, we’ll be uploading the last box of journals, opening for custom holiday orders, finishing up more orbs, and of course adding more jewelry fun.

I’ve been a little slow unpacking from Faerie Fest, but have a few new things listed over on our Art Fire Site . For now, Nate’s journals aren’t going to be there, as he just plain goes through them faster than I can get photos, edit the pics, and get them uploaded. But please feel free to look here his gallery of journals, and through his art. Nearly all of his paintings are available on journals as prints.

Lots of new jewelry too, got some uploaded on artfire, and coming here for pics too. It has been a crazy summer, so we apologize that haven’t gotten the site more up to date. Nate is still out of work with his back injury, tried heading back to work a week or two ago, and now the pain is back nearly at presurgery levels, so it has tossed a bit more chaos into our lives. Plus leaving lots of business things that normally are his job as mine job, while he continues to be under full health.

But on the upside, he is drawing and painting. He has a few in progress now that I can’t wait to see finished, I’m going to see if I can sneak in and get a couple in progress pics later.

And of course, a few more necklaces are rattling around in my head, just waiting for the final details of them to be decided so I can put them together. I really think that the planning, finding the right stones, researching various Goddesses (or other themes) is starting to take more than actually assembling, but that’s ok, I enjoy the whole process.

I just added a page to our site with our 2010 events to come.  The schedule isn’t yet complete, so be sure to check back, but it has at least June and July, unless we add even more.

Come on out to see us, we often have new things that aren’t online yet, and original art that you just can’t see as well online.

A few months back Nate started a new project. He has been painting and decorating glass balls, like for hanging in windows and such. We love how they came out. We first called them Faerie Balls. But at the many snickers and giggles this name sometimes leads too, we are now wondering. Do they need a new name?

We don’t have many pics of these (more to come), but Ashley took us some great ones, and there is one of lots of them hanging together, just for an idea of how they look. Comments are very welcome, we would like to have this decided by next weekend. Thanks!

Out of Chaos, came Gaia. Then, the story varies, but here is a site I really liked No matter which version you like, she creates Uranus, who becomes her mate. He has issues, so locks their kids in the Earth (inside her), blocking the opening. She arms Chronos, tells him how to attack good ol Dad, and Uranus looses his position of power (and penis) in the battle, and Chronos takes charge. But he didn’t learn very well. So when he and Rhea have kids, he swallows them right after birth. She gets mad, calls in Gaia, so they trick him with a rock, so a son can grow up. So Zeus grows up, over throws Dad, and takes over. We don’t hear much more from her after that.

I call upon Gaia, Primeval Prophetess . . .
The Greek great earth mother.”

Gaia, the beautiful, rose up,
Broad blossomed, she that is the steadfast base
Of all things. And fair Gaia first bore
The starry Heaven, equal to herself,
To cover her on all sides and to be
A home forever for the blessed Gods.

This beautiful Indian Bloodstone focal is surrounded by more bloodstone, Czech glass, tree agage, ocean jasper, green adventurine, kambaba jasper, mass agate, moukiate, and chrysopase lemon.

Oh Goddess, Source of Gods and Mortals,
All-Fertile, All-Destroying Gaia,
Mother of All, Who brings forth the bounteous fruits and flowers,
All variety, Maiden who anchors the eternal world in our own,
Immortal, Blessed, crowned with every grace,
Deep bosomed Earth, sweet plains and fields fragrant grasses in the nurturing rains,
Around you fly the beauteous stars, eternal and divine,
Come, Blessed Goddess, and hear the prayers of Your children,
And make the increase of the fruits and grains your constant care, with the fertile seasons Your handmaidens,
Draw near, and bless your supplicants.

~Orphic Hymn to Gaia~ translated and interpreted by Virginia Stewart, M.Ed.

I’ve long been obsessed with all things Celtic. And I’m a Cancer (sun sign) so of course, the Moon and I are long friends. So this one is no surprise 😉

Hymn to Arianrhod
By Janet and Stewart Farrar

Arianrhod of the Silver Wheel
By all the names men give thee –
We, thy hidden children, humbly kneel
Thy truth to hear, thy countenance to see.
Here in the circle cast upon the Earth
Yet open to the stars – unseen, yet real –
Within our hearts give understanding birth,
Our wounds of loss and loneliness to heal.
Isis unveiled and Isis veiled, thou art;
The Earth below our feet, the Moon on high.
In thee these two shall never be apart –
The magick of the Earth and Sky.

Her name means Silver Wheel. This is often taken to mean the Moon, or the Wheel of Rebirth. Some of her stories can be found here.

The centerpiece on this necklace is called a druzy. I can’t quite capture how sparkling and magical it looks in picture, but the surface of it is covered in small crystals, reflecting colors and light all around.   With it are blue coral, shell, blue lace agate, opalite, ice flake quartz, labradorite, dumortierite, and white agate.  Again, hard to catch in photos, but if you’ve never seen labradorite in person, you need to. It is like a captured rainbow. It looks grayish in the pics, but reflects colors in light and is just beautiful.  This one also has a special magnetic clasp, with crescent moons on it, fitting to Arianrhod.

Please know that the pictures are as accurate as possible, but the exact items may have slight variances due to lighting etc in the pictures. I try to show as many pictures as I can, in various lighting, to present a full picture of the items.

The ideas for this necklace started out very light, and well, Spring like. That’s what Persephone is, right? But in researching my Demeter necklace, I learned a bit more about Her daughter as well. Like that her springlike self has a different name, Kore, and that Persephone means something like to do with destruction. And many myths refer to her as the Queen of the Dead as well.

I found a lot of great information about her here and here

I loved the idea of balance that she represents. She is Spring, rebirth, Light. And yet, also Death. Some stories say she greeted new souls as they arrived even. The idea of this Light and Darkness became this piece.

The focal stone is Rhodonite, a swirled pink with gray and black. It is surrounded by more of the same stone, as well as rhodocrosite, black stone, black lava, hematite, and Swarovski crystals. The lava really drew me for Her, as it is beautiful,  and yet comes from destruction.  And the perfect blend for Her, there are little dark, nearly black, flowers as well.

Both the rhodonite and rhodocrosite are very good healers. Both are good for balancing the Heart chakra as well. The rhodonite is associated with many things,  but what fit really well, to me, is an association with alternatives, or finding the Inner Path, which Persephone’s worship was all about.

Trying to get the colors pictured well was a bit tough, some of the pics below are a bit blurry, but they did get the colors so I still included them. I am hoping for another sunny day soon to get some more outside, those come out best 🙂
